Anglican Diocese of the Eastern United States

Student Sunday School

Student Sunday School is the Church's ministry of Christian formation, where children and youth are welcomed into the life of Christ and nurtured in the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 3). More than a classroom, it is a place of discipleship where young people grow through Holy Scripture, prayer, worship, and the life of the Church.

Following the rhythm of the Church Year, students learn the story of God's saving work, discover the richness of the Anglican tradition, and develop a lifelong love for Christ. They are encouraged to listen attentively to God's Word, pray with the Church, participate reverently in worship, and recognize themselves as members of the one Body of Christ.

Christian formation unfolds gradually, respecting the age, maturity, and unique gifts of each child. Younger students are introduced to God's love through Bible stories, prayer, worship, and hands-on learning that foster a sense of wonder, belonging, and reverence. As students grow, they are guided into a deeper understanding of Holy Scripture, the Sacraments, the witness of the Saints, and the spiritual disciplines that sustain a faithful Christian life.

Student Sunday School is a partnership between the Church and the Christian family. Together, parents, clergy, and teachers seek to raise disciples whose lives are rooted in Scripture, nourished by worship, strengthened by the Sacraments, and equipped to serve Christ faithfully in their homes, communities, and throughout the world.
